Circle of Death!

Circle of Death!

Today, April 20, 2011, is the one year anniversary of the BP (British Petroleum) “Oil Spill.” By the way, the use of the word “spill,” bothers me because when I think of a spill, I think of something trivial like a child spilling their milk. Spill implies it was an accident and there is now ample evidence that this was an accident waiting to happen because of the usual corporate obsession with profit & therefore cutting corners whenever & wherever to maximize that almighty profit. Causing the death and suffering of humans & animals is considered simply part of the cost of doing business by the corporate cockroach consortium. This was clearly no innocent accident. This was criminally responsible willful negligence on the part of B.P., Halliburton, et al.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of “multi-national or transnational corporations” (revealing if you consider that they don’t show allegiance to any nation) daily pollute the world’s environment & probably the majority of our work environments. Citizens, workers, soldiers, develop rare & exotic diseases and suffer horrifically as they slowly wither away in indescribable pain as a result of either working in one of these corporate tyrannies or simply living a bit too close to one of the corporate toxic pits.

What is the typical corporate response? It’s not our fault and besides, you can’t prove it anyway. And what is absolutely mindboggling is the fact that the amoral ones have now come right out in the open as shown in the recent Republican vote to abolish Medicare which was unanimous. Moreover, the recent assault on public employee unions as evidenced by the governor of Wisconsin who was nationally embarrassed by the prank phone call from a guy posing as David Koch, reveals even more importantly the fact that the war on unions is being waged because unions are the last bastion or the most powerful institution capable of standing up to their corporate masters, and therefore pose a serious threat to the power or interests of the multinational corporations and must be weakened or eliminated so that the corporations have free reign to rape, pillage, & plunder the planet and all of humanity in order to make the greatest profits possible for their boards of directors.

You know what strikes me as tragically ironic is the fact that the corporate robber barons pay their media whores like Limbaugh, Beck, O’Reilly, Coulter, etc. millions of dollars to paint our Medicare insurance program as socialism, communism, anti-American while they accept the subsidies they get from our government along with the tax breaks & the allowance of their environmental crimes, employee abuses, consumer fraud, tax avoidance schemes, etc.

Furthermore, the corporate hyenas not only are given tax breaks, they often receive tax rebates of millions if not billions of our tax dollars. And to rub salt in the wound of humanity, BP just received $10 Billion U.S. Dollars. Dahr Jamail told us today on the Thom Hartmann program that “I’ve seen some reports lately that if BP plays their books right on this, they could actually profit from this disaster.” Does this not strike you as absurdly insane or outrageously obscene that a corporation could cause such catastrophic environmental and human destruction and then profit from their crimes?

Today, I had the privilege & honor of attending a lecture at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, given by my intellectual hero, Professor Noam Chomsky. One of the things he said that caught my ear was the clear & simple declaration that the world is not ruled by law but by force and “you may not like to hear this but it’s the way it is.” I bring this up because isn’t that what the powers that be always bring up & proclaim to be their Holy Grail? I am just touching on a few glaring examples of corporate lawlessness and the complicity of “our” government, but I could fill an encyclopedia with examples of their callous disregard of human life, liberty, & happiness. Dick Cheney couldn’t contain himself at times and revealed how the wealthy truly feel about all the rest of us with his “Go fuck yourself” public outbursts every now & then when someone had pushed his buttons in a press conference or something. Isn’t it interesting that we have so many “Law & Order” television series and assorted other programs whose theme is about solving crimes yet we are the most lawless nation on earth and regularly tell the rest of the world to go fuck itself because we are above the law? The U.S. & Israel almost always stand alone in vetoing resolutions by the U.N. because we have more weapons than the rest of the world combined. Most Americans forget that it was us who dropped the only atomic bomb on another nation and no other nation has done this, not even the former “Evil Empire” Russia. We invade nations whenever we feel like it and kill hundreds of thousands of innocents with our “precision bombing,” and inhumane sanctions e.g. 500,000 Iraqi children died and our ambassador, Madeline Albright, said “Well, that’s an acceptable price to pay.” Gee? I wonder why so many terrorists want to kill Americans at every opportunity? And yet when we get attacked like on September 11th, the American people are in a state of shock at how anyone could want to do such a thing to us because we are the good guys. Yes, it’s a very sad state of affairs that so many Americans are so unaware of what has been done in our name by the corporate jackals and their private, mercenary armies, our “intelligence agencies,” and our military forces all under the pretense of defending freedom & democracy.

Moreover, Halliburton, Dick, the Cheshire Cat, Cheney’s company whom he has over 400,000 shares in, manufactured the cement that BP used to seal the well in the Gulf which caused such ecological disaster, even though it had been tested and shown to be defective. And don’t forget Halliburton’s little misadventures in Iraq e.g. caught overcharging U.S. government in the millions, charged for services never rendered, & I believe, if I remember correctly, they somehow misplaced a pallet full of money from the U.S. government? Cheney, a former V.P. of Halliburton left to become president of vice for George ‘Dubya’ the bushwhacker and coincidentally we invade Iraq which had nothing to do with 9/11 and we bomb it into the stone age and Halliburton is awarded the major contracts for rebuilding Iraq? You remember, it wasn’t about oil, no, we just built the world’s largest embassy there along with dozens of permanent military bases because we wanted to bring “democracy” to Iraq. Hmm?

Here are a few examples of what happens on the personal, individual level as a result of these corporate robber baron’s callous disregard for humanity & the environment that sustains us or gives us life. On Democracy Now 4/20/11: “Clayton Mathene was working as an engineer in the area when the Deepwater Horizon exploded: ‘I can barely even get out of bed. I have trouble breathing. I can’t remember anything. I’ve lost half my eyesight. I cough up and spit blood all the time. I can’t even open a bottle of water or even hold a bottle of water in my hands. The chemical poisoning causes headaches so bad that it puts pressure on the nerves in my brain and causes my body to be paralyzed.’”

Furthermore, two young guys went swimming off the Florida coast and when they dove under the surface, came up covered in some slime. One of the guys dropped dead a month later and when the other one went into his doctor’s office, the doctor was amazed that he was able to walk into his office. It’s been estimated that over 50,000 dolphins have washed up on the shores of the Gulf dead from the dispersant and the oil. And what does our illustrious president who promised us change say about all this? It’s full steam ahead in terms of off-shore oil drilling. Don’t forget that Obama who said he’d fight for us with his new health plan started his bargaining with the Republican Reptilians by immediately giving up the single payer portion. So we are now forced to buy health insurance whether we can afford it or not and the insurance industry has been guaranteed millions of new customers it can charge whatever it wants and drop whenever they become sick and require health care. Yep! Change, or perhaps I should say chump change? We’ve all been chumped and as the Who sang, “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”

No worries though for the reptile class though because they have planned ahead and the prison industry in America is doing great business. After they illegally foreclose on your house with their fraudulent documents sanctioned by the Super Banks, too big to fail, you will become homeless and an even more vulnerable target for the sub-humans to harass and because you’re now unpleasant to look at, they will declare you a vagrant and throw you in their new, private prisons, where they can work you for free and feed you stuff unfit for farm animals, and you have no rights whatsoever. The monsters masquerading as humans don’t like to be reminded of their dirty work and that’s why they push the homeless into areas the general public and especially the rich, never have to see.

The republicans recently voted unanimously to eliminate Medicare and it’s obvious as to why they did so. As Noam Chomsky has pointed out, the two major expenses for the government are the “Defense Industry,” and Medicare. We, the people, have become superfluous. They don’t need us to work in their factories because they have shipped them all overseas or across the border in Mexico. They don’t need us as consumers because the new markets are in China, India, etc… So why should they pay for public education, health, or welfare? And these corporations pay little, if any taxes, even though we were and are forced to subsidize their industries for research & development, pay taxes for the roads, highways, ports, & airports that they conduct business on, pay the salaries for the police, firemen, & military who protect the corporate thieves, etc.. And our young who “join” the military because there are no job opportunities, are maimed, die, or return with serious psychological problems due to fighting in wars the rich keep thinking up so they can steal ever more of the resources of other nations. All the while, the Democrats pose as our champions but cave-in time and time again because many of them are bought and paid for just like the republicans are.
In conclusion, our soldiers who keep the powerful in power because they protect their corporate interests, return from war and once again their corporate masters reveal their true selves with, it’s not our fault, it’s not our responsibility, and besides, you can’t prove that your health problems are a direct result of being exposed to things such as Agent Orange or depleted uranium. And humanity is expected to simply accept the oil spills and pay for the costs to us in terms of health effects and environmental degradation as well as the economic consequences which result and the costs of the ‘cleanups,’ are passed onto us as well.

We have nuclear meltdowns and are reassured that it doesn’t pose a threat to us, remember “G.E. brings good things to light.” The nuclear plants in Japan were built with the help & design of G.E.’s Mark I plan and several nuclear plants in the U.S. are of the same design. And G.E. not only paid no taxes in 2010 but got back $1.3 billion in a tax rebate. We have natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina which some argue was more intense than hurricanes of the past due to the assault on nature by corporations polluting the air, land, & water at ever increasing levels. And because the business class along with their political cronies decided to not pay for reinforcing the levees in New Orleans. And what was the government’s response to the disaster in New Orleans? “Great job Brownie,” from George W. Bush. Naomi Klein has detailed the inhuman agenda of corporate and political scumbags in her book, The Shock Doctrine, if you’d care to inform yourself further on this murderous attack against all of us.

So we’ll keep on dying and suffering the degradations & humiliations caused by the free market fascism we are told is the only way to organize our society and the lying lizards will continue raping the planet. Remember, the business of America is business. Wrong, the business of America is bullying, stealing, & murdering the innocent, the weak, & the powerless. But it doesn’t have to be this way and if we, as individuals, inform ourselves and do what we can to speak out and participate in bringing down these hyenas from on high, we just might be able to save ourselves. And no, I don’t believe in waiting for God or whomever, to save us. That’s a fairy tale for children in my opinion. No, we must stand up like men & women and not go gently into that dark night as Dylan Thomas urged us to do. Humans got us into this sad state of affairs and it is up to humanity to stop the insanity!
